The Fourth-Estate Professional Society (FPS) is meant to be nation’s broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism, welfare of members, and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior among the members without clashing with the interest of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)

The FPS is an Association of persons who are engaged in media profession and those involved in sharing or disseminating news and editorial contents, journalism educators and students engaged in the study of journalism and related fields of study are also members.

The Society is working closely with the Society of Professional Journalists, USA to become Nigeria Chartered Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, USA.

RECOGNITION

The Fourth-Estate Professional Society (FPS) is registered under the relevant provision of the law registering professional bodies in Nigeria.  The Association is recognized  by the Federal Republic of Nigeria under Companies and Allied Matters Act 1, 1990 with Certificate Number RC 155097 dated 23rd December, 2020.

INDUCTION OF MEMBERS

The Fourth-Estate Professional Society shall organize induction for qualified candidates or applicants who have passed the professional examination and shall be inducted, given certificate of an appropriate grade at an investiture ceremony in line with the Article 19 of the FPS Constitution as consented by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

AIM

The aim of the Association is to have a broad based association that would coordinate media professionals of various components in promoting freedom and free flow of information, and accomplishing an overdue recognition and welfare of the professionals.
